The Mussel and Cockle Festival of Vilanova de Arousa features a varied program of activities.
The gastronomic proposals are combined with the traditional sea procession in honour of the Virgen del Carmen, various musical performances, the offers and discounts of the Opportunities Fair organised by local shops, or the awarding of the Gold and Diamond Badges. All of this in about an intense week of initiatives that make the town the meeting point for thousands of visitors from different parts of the country.
The activities take place in different locations within the town of Vilanova de Arousa itself: Plaza de O Castro, Jardín Umbrío, Parque de O Cabo, Avenida do Recheo, and the surroundings of the Mar de Santiago ferry station.
Last year, the food tent welcomed more than 4,500 people, establishing an average of 1,500 diners for each of the 4 festive days. The opening hours of the tent are from 12.30 to 4.30 pm, and from 7.00 to 11.00 pm, approximately.
