Food tent

The Plaza de O Castro hosts, during the four days of the event, the food tent of the Mussel and Cockle Festival of Vilanova de Arousa.
With a capacity of 300 people distributed in chairs and long tables, visitors can purchase various types of culinary proposals at discount prices.
Last year, the food tent welcomed more than 4,500 people, establishing an average of 1,500 diners for each of the 4 festive days. The opening hours of the tent are from 12.30 to 4.30 pm, and from 7.00 to 11.00 pm, approximately.
Last year, more than 400 kilos of mussels and 200 kilos of cockles were consumed in this space, which were sold in different dishes, whose prices ranged from 5 to 12 euros. The sale of tickets is carried out at the booth designated for this purpose, located at the entrance to the facilities.

Gastronomic offer

The cuisine on offer is made up of the following dishes:

• Steamed mussels
• Mussels with vinaigrette
• Pickled mussels
• Tiger mussels (spicy)
• Steamed cockles
• Galician-style octopus
• Mussel “empanada” (pie)
• Cockle pie
• Galician mussel “empanada” (pie)
• Galician cockle “empanada” (pie)
• Seafood paella
• Mussel croquettes
• Cockle croquettes

The menu is accompanied by various types of desserts and drinks. In the latter case, there is no shortage of Albariño D.O. Rías Baixas white wine or Barrantes red wine, soft drinks, beer and water. The company in charge of offering this service is, once again, Catering Alejandra Salinas.
Tickets for each of the dishes can be purchased at the ticket office at the entrance to the fod tent. Once purchased, you must go to the corresponding booth to exchange it for the desired dish. Afterwards, all that remains is to savour its flavour while enjoying the sea views from Plaza de O Castro.
